I am an associate professor in the Department of Kinesiology Public Health Program and the Director of the MRHE Lab.  I earned my BA in Psychology from Spelman College (2006-2010) and earned a MA and PhD in Community Psychology from Wichita State University (2010-2014). After my graduate training, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship at an academic-public health partnership through Sedgwick County Health Department and University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita. Prior to joining UTA,  I worked in nonprofit and governmental public health settings and provided research supervision and training to students and early-career scholars. In 2018, when I joined faculty, my research lab found a home at UTA!

My program of research focuses on the following areas:

  1. Investigating maternal, sexual, and reproductive health issues among racially and socially marginalized communities.
  2. Investigating multilevel factors that influence cardiometabolic health among women of color across the lifecourse, specifically during the preconception period.
  3. Exploring maternal and reproductive care quality and experiences of racially minoritized women and gender expansive communities.
  4. Applying complex systems science approaches to investigate reproductive health inequities and identify solutions.
